Privacy Policy

Markify is a visual feedback tool that lets you pin comments on any website screenshot. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected, how it is used, and how it is protected. By using Markify you agree to this policy.
1. Information Collected
Information you provide
- Name — when you leave a comment or reply, a display name is required. This name is stored alongside your comment and is visible to anyone with the canvas link.
- Website URLs — when you submit a URL for annotation, that URL is stored to take a screenshot and create your canvas.
- Comment text — the feedback, notes, and replies you write on a canvas.
- Email address — only if you create an account or contact Markify through the contact form.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data — page views, feature interactions, and error events collected via standard server logs. No third-party analytics trackers are used.
- Browser storage — your display name is stored in
localStorageso you don't have to re-enter it. This data never leaves your browser unless you actively submit a comment.
2. How Your Information Is Used
- To render your canvas and display comments to anyone you share the link with.
- To send email notifications to the canvas owner when a new comment is added (if they have notifications enabled).
- To respond to support inquiries submitted through the contact form.
- To diagnose bugs and improve the product.
Markify does not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties except as described in Section 4.
3. Data Storage and Security
All data is stored on Supabase (PostgreSQL) and Supabase Storage, hosted on AWS infrastructure in the United States. Screenshots are stored in a public storage bucket — anyone with the direct URL can view them. Row-level security policies prevent unauthorised writes.
Connections are encrypted in transit using TLS. Reasonable technical and organisational measures are in place to protect data against loss, misuse, or unauthorised access, though no system is perfectly secure.
4. Third-Party Services
Markify uses a small number of trusted third-party services:

Each of these providers has their own privacy policy. Data is only shared with them to the extent necessary to provide the Markify service.
5. Canvas Sharing and Public Access
Every canvas is accessible via a unique shareable link. Anyone with that link can view the screenshot and all comments, and can add new comments without creating an account. If you share a canvas link you are responsible for controlling who receives it. Password protection for canvases is not currently available (this may come in a future update).
6. Data Retention
Canvas data (screenshots, comments, and replies) is retained indefinitely unless deleted. Authenticated users can delete their own canvases from the dashboard. If you want your data removed and do not have an account, please contact Markify at the email below and it will be deleted within 30 days.
7. Children's Privacy
Markify is not directed at children under 13 years of age. No personal information is knowingly collected from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, please contact Markify and it will be deleted promptly.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data held about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing activities.

9. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. When changes are made, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will be revised. Continued use of Markify after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
